Overview
Crescent Island is the rim of a sunken volcanic crater, now a peninsula grazed by giraffe, zebra, waterbuck and wildebeest. Because no predators live there, you walk it — no vehicle, no barrier, just a guide and a footpath.
We reach it by boat across Lake Naivasha, which is the other half of the day: hippo pods in the papyrus, fish eagles dropping onto tilapia, and pelicans working the shallows.

Nairobi to Naivasha
Two hours northwest, with a stop at the Rift Valley viewpoint. You will see Mount Longonot's crater rim to the south as we drop onto the valley floor.

Boat safari on the lake
An hour on the water in a covered boat. Hippos surface beside the papyrus, and your boatman will call fish eagles down to fish — close enough to hear the wings.

Walking safari, Crescent Island
Roughly two hours on foot with an armed ranger. Giraffe let you come surprisingly close. Parts of Out of Africa were filmed here, and the views back across the lake are the reason why.

Lunch and return
Lunch at a lodge on the shore, then back up the escarpment to Nairobi. We can drop you at your hotel or at Jomo Kenyatta International for an evening flight.
