Overview
This is the shortest Mara programme we are willing to write. The drive from Nairobi takes five to six hours each way, so a two-day version leaves you almost no time in the reserve. Three days buys you one clear, uninterrupted day inside it.
The Mara holds the densest concentration of big cats in Kenya and all of the Big Five. Between July and October the wildebeest migration is in the northern Serengeti-Mara system and river crossings become possible, though never guaranteed.

Day 1
Nairobi to the Mara
We leave at 07:30 and take the escarpment road west through Narok, stopping for the Rift Valley view and again for lunch. You reach camp in the early afternoon, with an evening game drive to settle in before dark.

Day 2
A full day in the reserve
Out at first light. You can run two drives with a break at camp, or take a picnic lunch and stay out all day — we recommend the second, particularly in migration season. We work the Mara River, the Musiara marsh and the Talek plains depending on where the cats have been reported.

Day 3
Morning drive and return
A final drive as the reserve wakes up, then breakfast and the road east. We stop at Narok for lunch and reach Nairobi in the late afternoon, dropping you at your hotel or the airport.
