Overview
A good choice if you have seen the Mara before, or if birds interest you as much as cats. Amboseli delivers the elephants and the mountain; Naivasha and Nakuru between them hold pelicans, flamingo, fish eagles and well over five hundred recorded species.
Nakuru also gives you both rhino species and Rothschild's giraffe in a park small enough to cover thoroughly in an afternoon and a morning.

Day 1
Nairobi to Amboseli
South and west into the park by early afternoon. Lunch, then a game drive along the swamp edges as the herds come down to water.

Day 2
Full day in Amboseli
Sunrise drive for the mountain, then Observation Hill and the dry lake bed in the afternoon. Optional Maasai manyatta visit.

Day 3
Amboseli to Lake Naivasha
North past Nairobi and up the escarpment, with the Rift Valley viewpoint on the way. Afternoon boat safari among the hippos and papyrus.

Day 4
Crescent Island and Lake Nakuru
A morning walking safari on Crescent Island, then north to Nakuru. Afternoon game drive in the park: the rhino sanctuary, the lake shore, Baboon Cliff at sunset.

Nakuru to Nairobi
An early drive through the park, breakfast, then south-east down the valley and back into Nairobi by early afternoon.
