Overview
Two very different halves. Amboseli is dry, open and dominated by elephants and a mountain. Lake Naivasha is green, wet and quiet, and it is where you get out of the vehicle.
The transfer between them crosses Nairobi and climbs into the Rift Valley, so you see a great deal of Kenya from the window on day three — Maasai rangeland in the south, the escarpment, and the lake basin.

Day 1
Nairobi to Amboseli
South through Maasai country, into the park by early afternoon. Lunch, then an afternoon game drive along the swamps. Dinner and overnight in the park.

Day 2
Full day in Amboseli
Sunrise drive for the mountain, then a second drive in the afternoon covering Observation Hill, the dry lake bed and the acacia woodland. Big herds all day.

Day 3
Amboseli to Lake Naivasha
A long but scenic transfer north, skirting Nairobi and climbing the escarpment. We stop at the Rift Valley viewpoint. Afternoon boat safari on the lake once you have settled in.

Day 4
Crescent Island, then Nairobi
A morning walking safari on Crescent Island among giraffe, zebra and waterbuck — no vehicle, no fence. Lunch at the lodge, then the ninety-minute drive back to Nairobi.
